Windows 11 on some AMD Ryzen processors has performance issues
Windows 11 officially exits, and if you are on the market for a new PC, there are some that are already available with the latest Microsoft’s latest OS before. However, most people, most likely will only improve their Windows 10 pcs, which can bring some uncertainty over the minimum specifications needed by Windows 11. Unfortunately, even if your computer meets these requirements, it does not always mean that the process is. And the experience will be smooth and not painful, because the owner of the device running on some AMD processors is looking for disappointed.
Microsoft has hard requirements for what the CPU is supported, regardless of how capable they are. There are certain features related to security that are not available on longer silicon, but it seems that Microsoft might only see these factors when testing Windows compatibility 11. Now it seems that certain AMD Ryzen processors show performance problems even if they are registered as compatible.
AMD reported two rather critical problems that affect the performance of some unknown chipsets that run several applications, in certain games. It is most prominent in one of two bugs where the L3 CPU cache latency is three times, which means that the data in the high-speed memory area should be postponed. AMD said that some games will see a 10-15% decline in several matches, especially Esports.
Another bug affects more than just a game and specifically targets applications that use heavy CPU utas. Ryzen processors affected by this problem include those who have more than eight cines running on the TDP 65W. In short, bugs prevent the CPU from placing the execution of the fastest core of the processor, greatly affecting performance.
The good news is that both Microsoft and AMD know this problem, and upcoming updates this month are promised to fix it. Unfortunately, those who have updated to Windows 11 will not have a choice but to wait for that day. Hopefully, Microsoft will also block updates and even appear on the AMD Ryzen system that is affected until improvement is available.
