YouTube podcast plans could muddle things over at Google again
Even though they have been around for years now, podcasts become great in the time of streaming music. Spotify and Apple rivals are preparing for war, and even Amazon, who has the service subscription to Amazon’s own music, has jumped to Medan. Not surprisingly, then, hearing that YouTube can set the scenery on the market because it also streams music. Unfortunately, Google is no stranger to podcasts, and the possible confusion can open the old wound above Google Play Music Fiasco.
Reflecting the message messaging platform, Google has a variety of multimedia platforms and services that are rather confusing that might be turned off at a certain time. That’s what happens when Google retired plays music that supports youtube music, and may do it in the future to play movies & TV, which might be confused for YouTube itself or Google TV. It seems that the same confusing story will be revealed again, this time over the podcast.
Bloomberg revealed that YouTube wants to hire people with expertise in the podcasting industry, which is a new direction for Google companies and regions that are familiar at the same time. The creator has hosted podcasts on Youtube in the form of videos, often with some cover art but sometimes with video feed recorded during recording podcasts. Expanding Youtube music to enter podcasts almost sound natural, unless it might not be as far as concerned.
Google already has a podcast application, and its maintenance is actually very different from your typical podcasting experience. Google Podcast is tied with search, even displays playback control in search results. Podcasts, then, are just a comfortable place to collect indexed content from podcasting services and sites, similar to the way Google News functions.
It’s too early in the game to see how youtube interest in podcasts will eventually affect Google podcasts, but it is quite clear at this point how both are different in how they treat and handle the same type of multimedia content. Google can end up having two different podcasting applications again, which will eventually be combined into one more day, a lot to the worries of one or other camps.
