There are two Blockbuster candidates who come to the UK cinema this week, one of which has been disturbed by delays and lack of anticipation, and the other is Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Compared to the first Sonic film and the reaction design, the sequel has a smooth trip to the screen and arrives exactly as planned. Maybe the biggest twist is that thanks to receipt to the first film, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is now eagerly awaited by fans because it carries legacy characters and fingerbooks into the flip.

Of course, anticipation brings its own challenge: Can the same creative team make the first film hit repeating the trick? Fortunately for Sonic fans, they realize that there is no need to improve something that is not damaged.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is a more confident film than its predecessor, giving the same blend of the fun of frenetic family and nostalgic beats for old fans. Ironically for films about fast porcupine, the problem this time is that everything goes too long.

Where the first film is about Sonic (Ben Schwartz) found his place, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 saw a pleasant interdimensional hedgehog found what it means to be a hero. As much as he wanted to think he was ‘Blue Justice’, the initial effort to stop the robbery only leads to more chaos.

And clear chaos on the way to Sonic as, Thank you for the books of Echidna (Idris Elba), Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) has walked back to earth from the Sonic mushroom planet trapping him at the end of the first film.

In collaboration with fingerbooks, Dr. Robotnik is in a quest to find the Emerald Master who can give him the ultimate strength. Fortunately, Sonic has partners in their own tail (Colleen O’Shaugnessey) and they depart on the global adventure to stop the emerald from entering the wrong hand.

If only the film had just focused on this search. To get the main criticism of the road, there is no reason for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to two hours. Bloated runtime is the result of ensuring every human character has their own subplot, but they are not proven useful.

To paralyze it, human character – Dr. Robotnik besides – not as interesting their animated partners. When Sonic, tail and fingerbooks share screens, it is a nostalgic joy similar to Spider-Man: No Way Home Big Spider-Men Moment, and you want to return with them.

Faux-fitting design for the first film will never happen again, leading to VFX and a very good design carrying tails and life finger books. They look very similar to their video game colleagues that it is difficult to imagine fan errors found. When Sonic and knuckles, head-to-head, it really feels like a game that is turned on.

Idris Elba proved very suitable for fingerbooks with a mixture of dry humor and embed anger, but the best call made by filmmakers was to bring back Colleen O’Shaugneys as tail. He is the only voice actor from the match to repeat his role and you cannot imagine other people as tails.

The addition of two more iconic sonic characters allows sequels to learn more into Canon video games. Like the first film, there were lots of Easter eggs and nodded into a sonic history to find out of small things like pose to famous levels like the labyrinth zone.

It shines through these films made with love by Sonic fans, but very important, never harmed the film. This is not a fan service for fan services, although nods to Ben Schwartz’s Jean-Ralphio are convinced only deep cuts for parks and recreational fans.

There are times when the balance between interesting for children and adults is unsuccessful. For example, dance battles arranged to ‘Uptown Funk’ and Dr. Robotnik refer to flossing already, especially in the years to come to Rewatch.

These moments and runtime overlong which means Sonic The Hedgehog 2 often feels like two steps forward and one returns for the series. There is a lot of pleasure that must be owned elsewhere with a series of inventive pieces and entertaining the interaction between Sonic, tails and fingerbooks, not to mention the sustainable, committed of Carrey’s performance.

Bigger not always better, and with some tighter editing, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 can be a high energy explosion. Like it, there is lulls to be found and hopefully when the third film appears, the lesson will be studied and we can be in real treats.
