Early Life

Richard Bruce Cheney was born on January 30, 1941, in Lincoln, Nebraska. His parents, Richard Herbert Cheney and Marjorie Lorraine, came from Welsh, Ireland, England, and French ancestors. He is one of the three couples’ children.

After attending school at the Calvert Elementary School, his family moved to Wyoming, where the boy registered at the Matrona District Middle School. He continued to study at Yale University, but he came out because of problems in adjusting to college. He finally graduated from the University of Wyoming, obtained a bachelor’s degree and a master of arts in political science.
